This important holiday is in honor of the Mexican Army’s victory against France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862.The Mexican Army wasn’t “supposed” to win that battle. Their soldiers were outnumbered and out-equipped -- 4,000 Mexicans, compared with 8,000 French soldiers. And yet, they triumphed against the odds.
